We are committed to ensuring our that you, our client, enjoy their trekking and climbing excursions with the best and correct equipment which contributes to safety and peace of mind when out in the remote areas of the Andes. For this reason, we have published lists (see tables below) of necessary equipment for the different excursions that we offer.

Before embarking on any trek and/or climb, please check that you have the relevant equipment and items. In the event you do not have the equipment, it can be rented from Akilpo. We will verify and check each item rented, personally with you and ensure that it’s in good and working order.

It’s always prudent to check in advance with us whether we have the items you need, available for your trek and/or climb. You can also chat with us about the personal equipment that you have to confirm that it’s correct/best equipment for what you want to do.

Equipment Rental: Terms & Conditions

The following are the terms and conditions of our equipment rental and the client’s signature on the rental invoice signifies agreement with these terms and conditions below.

1.Akilpo assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries resulting from the use of rented equipment.

2. Client (person renting the equipment) takes full responsibility for the items rented during the rental period and will take the necessary care with use and storage of rented items.

2.1.Equipment requiring specialist knowledge should only be used with and under supervision of a qualified and registered guide.

2.2.Persons that are certified to use equipment requiring specialist knowledge, will show their certification for verification before rental.

3. The client will verify the condition, usability and instructions of use for each item with Akilpo (refers to any staff/management of Akilpo). Client’s signature on the rental invoice signifies that he/she is satisfied that the equipment is in good working order and in a condition as stated on the invoice.

3.1.Important to check that all items being rented appear on the rental invoice before signing it.

Payments & Guarantee

4. Payment for the rental of equipment is to be paid in full (cash only) at the time of rental.

4.1.A guarantee will be left by the client with Akilpo in the form of a cash deposit (amount as specified by Akilpo) and/or the passport of the client.

4.2.The cash deposit and/or passport left as guarantee will be returned upon the client’s return to Akilpo and the verification that all equipment is returned good condition and working order. **This is carried out in the presence of both the client and Akilpo.

Damage to/Loss of rental equipment

5. For equipment that is damaged, lost, or stolen, a replacement cost will be assessed and charged to the client.

5.1. Damage does not include reasonable wear and tear consistent with the use of the equipment for the purpose for which it was designed.

6. The current retail price will be charged for equipment lost or stolen.

7. Clients may incur a cleaning fee for excessively dirty equipment.

Late return Fees

8. The client will be charged daily rental rate, per item, per day for late equipment until the equipment is returned. The client will be charged for the full retail price of the equipment if it is not returned within three (3) weeks of the scheduled due date.

9. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED
