Each and every one of our team represent the spirit of our company: driven, committed, and acutely aware of how limitless Akilpo’s potential is to grow. We go to great lengths to identify self-starters with diverse experience and skill sets to produce not just an effective workforce, but a well-rounded, talented and complementary team.
At Akilpo, we employ dynamic individuals with a passion for change management and depth in their respective area of expertise. Our employees are dedicated team players who bring, ideas and pride to their work. We view Akilpo’s culture as a competitive advantage and strive to create an environment where enthusiasts, and passionate people succeed.
As your hosts, we’re responsible for all aspects of strategy, the team and overall operations of the two offices of the Akilpo Adventure Travel Agency and the two hostels in the city of Huaraz. We are the founders and owners of the business AKILPO. Experts in what we do, we share the same traits: a passion for our work, a concern for constantly rethinking our strategies and skills within the industry, and finally our experience in the tourism industry.
We employ guides who are professional as well as experienced in their field of expertise and have a passion for what they are doing, thus sharing this passion for the mountains and nature with our clients. Our guides are also trained in first aid, and some also have rescue qualifications.
Our local professional mountain cooks come from top backgrounds, including executive chefs. They are responsible for all culinary activities, for the consistency and quality of our food as well as preparing interesting and delicious food. They bring passion and a very unique style of cooking to our menu options.
Although some people may not be taking much notice of the porters and the pack animal drivers, to us, these people are extremely important members of our trekking and climbing teams. These people will be in charge of all our equipment and food etc that the guide and clients are not carrying, in addition to preparing and setting up the campsite with the cooks before the guide and clients arrive.
For this reason we select only the best and most motivated individuals in addition to ensuring that we are still supporting the communities around the Cordilleras Blanca and Huayhuash. As regards the pack animals, we review the care that the animal drivers take of their animals as negligence and abuse of the pack animals cannot and will not not be tolerated – this includes not overloading animals.
