Paris, France’s capital, is a major European city and a global center for art, fashion, gastronomy and culture. Its 19th-century cityscape is crisscrossed by wide boulevards and the River Seine. Beyond such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower and the 12th-century, Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral, the city is known for its cafe culture and designer boutiques along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

I caught an underground train and visited the Sacre Couer. It was completely breathtaking, although did look a little strange and out of place. This basilica featured in the film \’Amelie\’ and is home to a massive pipe organ, and some very eleboarte decor, both inside and out.

We walked to the Eiffel Tower one afternoon and spent a few hours properly exploring this area, before having a nice evening meal close by. When we left the restaurant, i was amazed at how beautiful the tower looked, sparkling with all its lights and bring illuminations. Very special. I took a photo, but it didn\’t really do it justice by any means and everytime I show it to people I find myself telling this story.

Crusing along the River Seine – what could be nicer? We took an evening cruise along the Seine in February, where the boat had great big floodlights along the sides. We saw so many huge Paris landmarks in a matter of minutes, the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame, bridges and more. It was however extremely cold and by the time it was nearing the end, I was pleased that it was finishing, but then I guess that was my fault for sitting on the top, rather than inside. Boat trips in Paris are easy to come by.
